I'm here today to give an example of a lead feature story: Everyone knows that women are and have always been stereotyped. They believe that they are only good for gossiping and talking. That they take longer breaks. That they don't work as hard as men. That they deserve to be paid less because they do less of a job then men. When in reality studeies show that that women take shorter breaks than men and get paid less. Type of story: Descriptive

Feature Story

Background infromation: A lead story is the openning sentence of a story, it must grab the readers attention using speacific words. A lead must start the story and create a proper tone for it. For example it can be ironic or even serious. There are different types of leads( Narrative, Descriptive, Direct Quote, Starling Statement, Contrast and Compare, and Twist) A lead: -must relate to the topic -can be longer than one sentence -it should be in the third persons pov -it must fit the mood or tone of the story -must be an attention grabber

Hi, guys I'm here to tell you about the colors I decided to use for my magazine.

The image above is a neon, black and white magazine. I believe this will be a good idea for my magazine because mostly everyone gets black hair and you need a color in which the black will pop off of and I believe that this neon color is going to be one of those pop colors. Double page spread

What is a double page spread? A double page spread has two pages of the same article that includes images. It is the biggest article in a magazine. Unlike other pages, a double page spread page has its article in the center. Usually the same model from the cover page is used on this page. It is based on a the following terms: Main image : this image may be the same model from the cover page. This the mood of the magazine. For example, if the model has on clothing with happy colors such as yellow, orange, and more it . This image gives a meaning for the particular person. Title/heading: attracts reader through big and bold letters. It is similar to the topic of the article. Color scheme: arrangement of colors that is chosen to attract the audience. These colors set magazine mood. Columns: a text where the writers expresses their opinions. Drop capital: the first letter of the columns, which marks the beginning of the section. Pull Quotes: it captures the audience attention by including some information about the interview of the model presented.

Natural Hair

Hey, I'm going to explain to you just what natural hair is today. "Black women’s hair has been under attack for centuries. Due to the history of slavery in America and a strict enforcement of white supremacy after it’s abolition, the natural hair movement we know and love today was not always so accepted. And to be real, it’s still not always accepted". Having "natural" hair means that you don't put perms or texturizers in your hair. It means you embrace the hair you were born with and come to love it no matter what others have to say about it. In the 1600s womens hair was attacked which forced multiple women to have to have it shaved off. This happened during slavery. Research on Braid History

The history of all braids dates back to 3500 BC.The style maintained a historical survival. "From classic cornrows and simple three-strand braids to Dutch braids and more, this symbolic style has been a sign of societal status, ethnicity, religion, and more". The origin of braids can be traced back to African cultur, specifically in Namibia. Braided hairstyles were a symbol of a person’s tribe, age, status, wealth, rank, and religion. It states "In relation to time periods, Pace credits Africa with cornrows in 3500 BC; Egypt with afro box braids in 3100 BC; Greece with the halo braid in the first century; Native Americans with pigtail braids in the fifth century; Europe with the crown braid from 1066 to 1485; China with the staircase braid from 1644 to 1912; the Caribbean with modern cornrows in the 1970s; and the internet (of course) with braid tutorials becoming especially popular in 2005 when YouTube launched." This indicates the dated times in which the differnt braid patterns were established. In certain cultures men wore braids. Some say they wear braids to honor their ancestors and culture. A man by the name of Frank Antoine says "My hair symbolizes the start of a new healing journey I started seven years ago". Braiding their hair helps them to feel connected to their ancestors. Some say that braiding their hair gives them strength and wisdom and a reflection of who they are.
